MAYNARD, Mass., March 8, 2007 – Stratus Technologies, Inc. announced today that company president and CEO David J. Laurello was elected to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts High Technology Council at its annual meeting yesterday. Laurello joins a group of 30 CEOs who, as representatives from all sectors of the state’s diverse technology economy, set and oversee the Council’s public policy agenda.

“We’re pleased to have a leader with Dave’s skills and depth experience on our board,” said Massachusetts High Technology President Christopher R. Anderson. “Working with Dave and our other directors, we look forward to moving a public policy agenda that makes Massachusetts more globally competitive.”

Laurello has been a top executive with Stratus since 1999 and was named president and CEO in 2003. At Stratus, Laurello has overseen the company’s securing of $470 million in financing, the acquisition of two companies and the expansion of its global partnerships, among other accomplishments.

In his nearly 30-year career in the Bay State’s technology community, Laurello was a long-time executive at Digital Equipment Corp. before joining Stratus Computer and Lucent Technologies. Laurello, an Air Force Vietnam War veteran, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, from where he earned his BSEE and MBA degrees. He lives in Westford with his wife, Lauren.

“The Commonwealth’s business community, and technology leadership in particular, is in a strong position to influence our state to focus on creating a more competitive and business-
friendly environment, and being a more affordable place for young people to stay and help drive our economy,” said Laurello. “It is a challenge I am eager to take on as a council board member and I very much appreciate the opportunity to contribute as a part of the solution.”

Council president Anderson noted that Laurello would provide leadership to support the Council’s top public policy priorities, including improving math and science education, maintaining a stable and competitive tax structure and creating a global economic development strategy for Massachusetts. Following yesterday’s MHCT Annual Meeting, Laurello and his director colleagues met in a closed board meeting to approve the Council’s 2007 public policy agenda.
