Maynard, MA, Feb. 5, 2007 – Stratus Technologies, Inc. will launch the first technology industry event to focus on continuous availability computing when it kicks off the Continuous Availability Summit 2007 on March 25 in Orlando, the company announced today. The three-day event will focus on the growing need of companies in every industry to support mission-critical applications with failure-proof network infrastructures that resist unscheduled downtime.
Keynote speakers are former Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell and futurist author Dr. James Canton. Powell, who led the FCC through a period of revolutionary technological change, will speak on convergence and changes in media, music, telephony and wireless that affect how companies serve their customers. Canton will give an overview of how future innovation will transform business in the 21st century, including case studies of market share growth strategies.
In addition to the breakout sessions and keynote speeches, the Continuous Availability Summit 2007 includes a panel discussion on virtualization moderated by an IDC analyst, and an exhibition of continuous availability solutions. The Summit is intended to provide non-partisan advice on achieving 99.999 percent availability. That issue promises to grow more important as businesses rely on technology systems to generate revenue and meet customer expectations for 24x7 service.
"Technology no longer sits in the back room crunching numbers and tabulating results. It's out in front of business, making sales, driving results," said Greg Enriquez, senior vice president, worldwide field operations. "Customer-facing applications are mission critical because consumers expect systems to be available at their convenience. To deliver that degree of reliability, most companies need more information and experience in hardening their infrastructures against failures. The Continuous Availability Summit 2007 will be the definitive source for the ideas and solutions that businesses need to develop and manage those infrastructures."
Summit sponsors currently include Microsoft, Alaric, Postilion, Sightline and DRA. Dell is providing Internet kiosks for attendees' use. TechTarget is the exclusive media sponsor.
